season 2004 First report (16.8.2004) Because of a dispute between the land owner and the fossil right owners of the Howe Ranch, the Siber Team chose another spot for this year's digging season, the neighboring Red Canyon Ranch. It is there where, a few weeks ago, local quarry manager Bob Simon discovered an exceptionally well preserved Stegosaurus skeleton (field name: "Sarah"). Because of his long experience in professionally excavating dinosaurs, Kirby Siber and his team were invited to uncover this find. "Sarah" is the Siber Team's fourth Stegosaurus skeleton. The fossil was found belly-up. Many parts are already well visible (vertebra, tail spikes, legs and more). The question, whether "Sarah" has a preserved head will be answered in the next few weeks of digging. Click images of a larger view! |
